Our classes include elements of show training, helping dogs and handlers develop the skills needed to perform confidently in the ring. We work on movement, positioning, focus, handling and presentation, while introducing more advanced techniques for those interested in competing.
Several of our dogs and handlers have successfully competed in shows, earning prizes and top placements — a wonderful reflection of the skills, confidence and teamwork developed during training.
Our club also holds its own year-end tests, giving dogs and handlers an opportunity to demonstrate the progress they have made throughout the year. Where possible, we also prepare our members for and organise KUSA tests.
We focus on play, fun, and building a strong connection between you and your pup. Your dog is family, after all.
We focus on rewarding your dog for good behaviour, rather than punishing unwanted behaviour.
Some dogs are food-motivated, while others are a little fussier. Soft, chewy treats are often more exciting than hard, crunchy ones.
Consistency is incredibly important in training. Use the same words and the same tone each time you ask your dog to do something.
Training should be fun for both you and your dog. Keep it positive, and try mixing things up to keep your dog interested.
Remember to praise your dog for every improvement, no matter how small. Celebrating the little wins helps keep both you and your dog motivated.
When training becomes part of your daily routine, it’s much easier to fit in short, regular practice sessions.
