Agility training is a fun and stimulating activity for both dogs and handlers. It is a fast-paced dog sport that develops skill, speed, teamwork and trust. Dogs navigate an obstacle course made up of jumps, tunnels, weave poles and other equipment, while their handlers guide them through the course in the correct order.
Agility is one of the fastest-growing dog sports. Courses typically include between 14 and 20 obstacles, such as weave poles, tunnels, tyre jumps, seesaws and pause tables, where the dog must stop for a set amount of time.
At each trial, you and your dog will complete a unique course designed for that day. Your dog relies on your body language and verbal cues to navigate the course successfully.
We focus on play, fun, and building a strong connection between you and your pup. Your dog is family, after all.
We focus on rewarding your dog for good behaviour, rather than punishing unwanted behaviour.
Some dogs are food-motivated, while others are a little fussier. Soft, chewy treats are often more exciting than hard, crunchy ones.
Consistency is incredibly important in training. Use the same words and the same tone each time you ask your dog to do something.
Training should be fun for both you and your dog. Keep it positive, and try mixing things up to keep your dog interested.
Remember to praise your dog for every improvement, no matter how small. Celebrating the little wins helps keep both you and your dog motivated.
When training becomes part of your daily routine, it’s much easier to fit in short, regular practice sessions.
